Who we are

The Longmont Professional Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 1806, is the union for the career firefighters who protect the City of Longmont, Colorado.

Local 1806 represents our members at the bargaining table and in the firehouse. We negotiate fair contracts and push for the staffing, training and equipment firefighters need to do their jobs safely.

We're proud members of the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters, and we stand with firefighters across the state and the country.

Chartered October 28, 1968

On that day the International Association of Fire Fighters chartered our local for 16 City of Longmont firemen. They wanted fair treatment, safe working conditions and a strong voice for the people who answer the call.

From its earliest days, Local 1806 fought for fair wages, safer equipment, reasonable hours and benefits that honored the sacrifices of its members. In 2008, Longmont amended its city charter to add collective bargaining for police and fire department employees, formalizing our right to negotiate agreements with the city.

More than five decades later, we carry on their work.
